Today, we want to introduce you to one of the most famous places in Sokobanja – the Turkish Bath Amam, also known as Park Bath. With its long history dating back to the 15th century, this bath has become an essential destination for all visitors who want to experience a blend of the past and modern wellness.
Built during the Ottoman era on the foundations laid by the Romans when they ruled this area, the Turkish Bath Amam holds significant historical value and is under state protection. Throughout the centuries, it has undergone three renovations but managed to preserve its original spirit. As a witness to historical events, Amam is a place of great importance for Sokobanja and its cultural heritage.
The first renovation of the bath was carried out during the reign of Prince Miloš Obrenović. Prince Miloš often stayed in Sokobanja and personally restored this bath. As a memory of his time, there is a special bathtub built exclusively for him. Even today, that bathtub is in use and is part of the bath’s museum collection. In addition to the bath, Prince Miloš also built Milošev Konak across the street, which served as the center of Serbian administration overseeing his activities. Although it now has a new purpose as a place for hospitality establishments and cafes, Milošev Konak has managed to preserve the spirit of bygone times.
The last renovation of the Turkish Bath Amam took place in 2005. Thanks to that, the bath has once again shone in its full beauty, preserving the authenticity of its appearance. Today, the Special Hospital “Sokobanja” manages this bath as part of its wellness offerings. Visitors can enjoy bathing in thermal water pools and tubs, as well as relaxing in the original Miloševa Kada. Various types of massages and cosmetic treatments are also available, providing complete relaxation and benefits for the body and soul.

One of the special reasons to visit the Turkish Bath Amam is the inhalation therapy with mineral water. This therapy is beneficial for individuals with respiratory problems and for those who want to preventively maintain the health of their respiratory tract. The mineral water used in inhalation therapy has beneficial properties that help alleviate symptoms and improve overall well-being.
Amam is also known as a filming location. You may recognize it from the movie “Zona Zamfirova” directed by Zdravko Šotra, which further contributes to its cultural significance.
